Fabulous Brown Oscar Winners

Last night was absolutely amazing for African Americans and the Oscars. Not only did PRECIOUS take the Academy by storm, but so did successful comedienne, Mo'Nique. She along with a host of other uber talented African Americans took home Oscars' last night and to them we say Congrats!!!!!

Check them out below!

Mo'nique for Best Supporting Actress in PRECIOUS

Anthony Mackie for Best Movie, HURT LOCKER

Geoffrey Fletcher for Best Adapted Screenplay with PRECIOUS

Roger Ross Williams for Producing and Directing short film, Music by Prudence.

And of course we can not forget to thank the woman who broke down the barriers for there to be a black assortment of Oscar winners today.

Hattie McDaniels was the first African American to win an Oscar in 1939. She won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Gone With the Wind.

It has been confirmed that Mo'Nique will be telling her story and it will be directed by none other than Lee Daniels.

Here is Mo'Niques flawless acceptance speech! You can definitely tell she had "this speech" prepared! Yes for claiming your Oscar!! We love it!

Let's be honest. There is something about black women coming together in beautiful and harmonious pretenses that is so inspiring and humbling. Last week, Essence Magazine, a publication and brand that I totally respect hosted the Black Women Hollywood Luncheon in LA that honored several women in the entertainment industry who have contributed to the positive imagery of black women over all.

Vogue Italia Loves Fabulous Brown Girls with VOGUE BLACK!

When we learned about the Italian Vogue's new website Vogue Black, we were instantly amazed and impressed with what we saw.

The website focuses on everything black, beauty, and fashion. If you remember Vogue Italia are the ones that had the Black Issue that had 4 different covers of very accomplished and successful black models, Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez, and Liya Kedebe. With a lot of magazines and the entertainment industry as a whole snubbing black women, the fact that the Vogue brand is starting to cater more towards black beauty is great!

We especially love the up-incoming spotlight of British model, Tolula Adeyemi.

We think all Fabulous Brown Girls should be familiar with this website so take a look and add it to your Internet must see!

What Happened to Desiree Rogers?

So currently there is BIG buzz around Desiree Roger's, Social Secretary to the Obama administration, announcement of resignation.

Rogers made the announcement last Friday after much scrutiny and backlash from the couple who successfully crashed the State Dinner back in November of last year.

We are shocked and disappointed at the news of her resignation because she was one of the women along with First Lady, Michelle Obama, in the White House that exemplified what a Fabulous Brown Girl is..

Many have criticized her saying that because she was brought in only because she was a close friend to the Obama's and that she got caught up in the instant fame she received and didn't take the president's safety as serious as she should have.

Even though the president's safety is of utmost concern, we don't think that the dinner party crashing warranted Roger's early departure.

Politics, as we know is a nasty game and we know that there is always more to a story when someone resigns prematurely from an awesome position. People are always ready to bring you down and watch you fall, but never let that deter you from your dreams. And make sure you use everything major that happens to you as a lesson learned.

We are sad to see her leave, but we know Ms. Rogers is a very smart and determined woman and she will have offers coming from several other places, and we still plan on following her career.

What do you all think about Desiree Rogers resignation?
